World Blood Donor Day
Every year, this day reminds us just how crucial voluntary blood donation is. If you’re healthy and eligible, donating blood is one of the most direct ways to save lives. Just one donation can help up to three people in need.
But here’s an important truth: not everyone is able to donate, even if they want to.
Some of the reasons include:
– Recent travel to certain regions
– Engagement in “at risk” sexual activity in the past 12 months
– Medical conditions or specific medications, e.g. low hemoglobin levels due to anemia
Hemoglobin is essential for a safe donation. The good news is: it can be measured easily with our clinical chemistry analyzer. A check can tell you if you’re ready to give, or if your body needs a little time and care first.
If you are eligible – please go.
